Sport presentation
A weaponless combat sport and martial art. Practitioners are called taekwondoins and their training halls are known as dojangs. In competition, protective equipment is mandatory. WTF taekwondo is an official sport at the Olympic Games and the Jeux du Québec. Practitioners must apply permitted technique from an upright position to the head and trunk protectors of their opponents. Punches and kicks are worth different points, which are awarded by judges. To win, competitors must be first to score twelve points or to open a seven-point advantage over their opponent. Competitors automatically lose a bout if they attain minus four points (eight warnings or four sanctions).
Sport Association
The Association régionale de Taekwondo WT is a partner of the Jeux de Montréal.
Schedule
